Reflections about the Dragon’s Lair after school program:

"We have been very pleased with our son’s experience at the Dragon’s Lair after school program. Unlike other programs whose structure is very similar to the school day, Dragon’s Lair offers an environment that welcomes active children needing an outlet for their energy. While there is time set aside for homework, we have been especially pleased with the formal and informal opportunities to learn the skills and habits of mind associated with modern gung fu. Our son’s attitude has improved as he’s learned to treat adults and peers with the kind of respect that is taught and expected at Dragon’s Lair. In addition, his accomplishments, marked by moving up the rank structure in gung fu, have helped improve his self-esteem. We are thrilled to hear him setting personal goals for his future at Dragon’s Lair. Last week he said, “Maybe I can get my black belt by junior high.”

We have been especially encouraged by the way Dragon’s Lair instructors have taken a personal interest in our son, beyond his success in gung fu. They care about his success in school, his relationships with his family and his general wellbeing.
